Alumni Report

We are pleased to bring to you this report from your Alumni Association:

Communications
During this past year we have released two new editions of the Alumni Post newsletter which highlighted the move to Peterborough, student missions and service projects. The Alumni Post continues to be well received and we invite you to contribute your stories, pictures and updates as we are always looking to celebrate alumni activity both at the school and beyond. It would appear that what you enjoy the most is hearing of old friends and classmates, so join in and tell us where you are and what God has been doing in your life and ministry.

Our Alumni database contains over 1550 names, which is a 3.3% increase over a year ago. So please keep having your Alumni friends provide us with their contact info. There are currently 243 names with no email address and with every communication we get a 15% – 18% reject rate based on either the address no longer being valid or blocked as spam, or the mailbox is full. If you do not get the Alumni communications, it may be because, in addition to one of the foregoing, you’ve changed your address and haven’t told us or you have not provided us with your email address.

Alumnus of the Year
Every year we solicit from the Alumni their nominations for the Alumnus of the Year, rotating our honouring a lay person, a missionary and then a member of the clergy. Master’s College and Seminary annual graduation ceremony is an occasion the committee highly anticipates as it provides the opportunity for such recognition. We look forward to honouring another alumni member at this year’s graduation.

Finances/Alumni Scholarship
The Alumni Association currently has minimal means of financial support to conduct its activities so we are truly thankful for the funds received at last year’s graduation ceremony for the Alumni Association. One of the programs funded by the Association is an Alumni Scholarship for a student at MCS. The Executive Committee in partnership with the College selects a student(s) who qualifies to receive the scholarship, which is also presented at the College’s graduation ceremony.

Volunteers
The Alumni Executive Committee is seeking volunteers to assist with various activities re planning, information gathering (i.e. for Alumni Post material, Alumni database), etc. If you are, or know of other alumni who would be interested in volunteering, please contact us at dhillier@shepherdvillage.org
